Pale Primary School is situated in a small rural village Pāle with about 700 inhabitants, in the northern part of Latvia, about 20 km from the Baltic Sea. We have 78 students (7-16 years old) in primary school level, 28 children in pre-school group, 24 teachers and 7 staff. As there is quite a high unemployment rate in our region, we have about 35-40 students from low-income families. About 12 students have learning difficulties and some students are at a risk of social exclusion. For that reason we are realizing not only the general education programme but the programme for students with learning difficulties, as well. We have certified, hardworking and reliable staff, eager to improve their skills and learn new things. Also, teachers` activity and ability to motivate students to be more active in school life has increased. Our students` council is very active the last three years.
